New Homeowners

Just moved in? Start with the windows and doors.

If you've recently bought a home in Central Florida, you likely inherited the previous owner's windows and doors. Upgrade to impact-rated, energy-efficient units — and start saving from your first summer in the house.

Why new movers upgrade first

The highest-impact first project in your new home.

New windows and doors touch everything that made you buy the house — comfort, energy bills, storm protection, security, and curb appeal. Here's why so many Central Florida homeowners make it the first thing they handle after closing.

  • You inherited the last owner's deferred maintenance

Most homes still have the original builder-grade or single-pane units. Foggy glass, sticking sashes, and drafty frames are usually the first thing new owners notice once they move in.

  • Lower cooling bills from day one

Insulated, Low-E glass cuts the heat load on your AC through a Florida summer. Replacing early means you bank those savings every month you own the home.

  • Bring the home up to current Florida Building Code

Impact-rated, hurricane-certified windows and doors protect against winds in excess of 130 mph — and many insurers offer wind-mitigation credits once they're installed.

  • Financing keeps your cash free after closing

You just put money down on a house. Financing lets you upgrade now and spread the cost, instead of waiting years to start.

  • Make the house feel like yours

New entry doors, French or sliding patio doors, and updated window styles change the look of the home inside and out — one of the highest-impact first projects.

  • One accountable team, start to finish

The person who measures your home is the same team that installs it and answers the warranty call in year eight — backed by our 10-year installation & labor warranty.

The FWDS Process

Five steps. One accountable team from measurement to ten years on.

Big-box retailers hand your project off three or four times — sales to measure team to subcontracted installer to warranty call center. We don't do that. The person who walks your home on day one is the same team you call in year eight.

New homeowner FAQ

Questions we hear from people who just moved in.

I just bought my house — is it too soon to replace the windows?
No. Right after moving in is the most common time homeowners upgrade, because you've already seen which windows are drafty, foggy, or hard to operate. Starting early also means you collect the energy savings for every year you own the home.
How do I know if my windows or doors need replacing?
Common signs include condensation or fog between the panes, drafts you can feel near the frame, sashes that stick or won't stay up, rising cooling bills, and single-pane glass. A free in-home consultation will tell you exactly what you have and what's worth replacing.
Will new windows actually lower my energy bills?
Energy use depends on many factors, but with the same conditions — same month, same indoor temperature — homeowners can typically expect 10–30% savings after upgrading to insulated, Low-E glass. We can't guarantee a specific percentage on your individual bill.
Do I need impact or hurricane windows in Central Florida?
They aren't required on every replacement, but impact-rated windows and doors bring the home up to the latest Florida Building Code wind ratings, protect against forced entry, and can qualify you for wind-mitigation insurance credits. We'll walk through your storm zone during the estimate.
Can I finance the project after buying a home?
Yes. Financing is available so you can upgrade now and keep your cash free after closing. See our financing page or ask during your free estimate.
How long does the whole process take?
After your free in-home consultation you get a firm, line-item quote within 24 hours. Manufacturing and permitting typically take 4–8 weeks, and most homes are installed in 1–3 days, followed by the county inspection.
